GALATEA FINE ART is a light-filled, expansive space located in Boston’s SoWa Art and Design District. It was founded in 2009 by gallery member and Director Marjorie Kaye with the intention of creating a vibrant, warm, and supportive artists’ community. With the thoughtful design and building by gallery member George Shaw, the space lends itself to several solo exhibitions each month. The space also hosts group member exhibitions, curations from both members and guests, and the always anticipated annual New England Collective juried exhibition.
Our members are painters, sculptors, and photographers, work in textiles, mixed media, and more. The gallery represents both emerging and more established artists, mobilizing diverse energies and skills to enrich the local art community and contribute to the contemporary art discourse. We have been reviewed in ArtScope Magazine, Art New England, the Boston Globe, The Improper Bostonian, Boston Magazine, as well as other eclectic sources of media both printed and virtual.
SoWa is the most sought-after art community in Boston with over 30 galleries, design houses and restaurants all clustered within walking distance. Hundreds of people come out on First Friday to view the new exhibitions in the area, as well as the Open Markets from May – October. Galatea Fine Art has been, and continues to be, a source of comprehensive, stimulating and nourishing exhibitions, creating a pillar of activity in the area.
