Luba Shapiro Grenader
Artist Statement:
"Lament & Renewal: Restringing the Heart, Reviving the Self" contemplates the intertwined nature of loss, pain, and beauty—personal, global, and ecological. The reimagined drawings are brought to life through reconstruction with threads connecting drawn elements, linking physical and ethereal, while cloth mends and reimagines the forms. After the storm, trees lose their limbs - these wooden relics become embedded in the drawings reflecting nature's tumultuous presence and its ecological significance. The mixed-media elements come together to express the interconnectedness of life, highlighting its profound contrasts and inherent resilience.
