THE NEW ENGLAND COLLECTIVE IX: Annual Juried Exhibition

Juror: Marni Elyse Katz is a freelance design journalist, art curator/consultant, and the blogger behind StyleCarrot. She contributes regularly to The Boston Globe, Design New England, Boston Home, Boston Common, Interiors Boston, and art journal The Woven Tale Press. Katz sources artwork for Webster & Company at the Boston Design Center, as well as for interior designers and private clients. She also organizes pop-up art events to showcase local artists. Katz earned a B.A. from Connecticut College in Asian Studies and a M.A. in Art History from Columbia University. She lives in Boston with her husband, two sons, and a cat. The NEW ENGLAND COLLECTIVE IX is open to artists over 18 years old from the New England states, MA, NH, VT, CT, RI and ME, working in all media. Artwork completed in the last five years is eligible.
Deadline for entries: June 15, 2018
Results posted on Galatea website: July 10, 2018
Accepted work delivered: Friday – Sunday, July 27th, 28th or 29th between 12 and 5pm.
First Friday Reception: Friday, August 3, 2018, 6-8 pm
Pick up at end of exhibition: Sunday, September 2nd or Monday, September 3rd, between 12 and 5pm.
How to Apply:
All entries are to be in digital format as JPG images. Upload information and images at https://form.jotform.com/81063784884165
All images should be labeled as: Last Name_Image # (for example, Anderson_1). Entries are due no later than June 15th, 2018. Image resolution should be longest side no more than 850 pixels at 72 dpi. Entries not adhering to this procedure will not be juried.
Fees and Details:
Artists can submit a maximum of 2 works. The fee for submission is $30.00. For current Galatea members, the fee is $15. Payment can be made online when you enter your images. 2D works must be no larger than 60” tall or wide. Diptychs/Triptychs are considered one entry and should be united as one image for viewing by our juror. Works in Sculpture can be no larger than 60” tall and 36” deep, and should weigh no more than 75 lbs. Sculpture artists may send 2 images of each submitted work for consideration. If accepted, pedestals, if needed, should be provided by the artist. Please list the dimensions as height x width in inches.
Video/Digital submissions should be on DVD or CD and mailed to Galatea Fine Art, 460 Harrison Ave., #B-6, Boston, MA 02118; along with the submission form below and a check for the entry fee made out to Galatea Fine Art. If accepted, artists must provide DVD/CD player and monitor for presentation.
All works selected for the exhibition must be clean, dry, finished, wired and ready to hang. No Clip frames or saw tooth hangers. Works not adhering to this protocol will not be hung, even if selected by our juror.
Galatea Fine Art receives 30% commission on all sold works.
Accepted artists will be listed on the Galatea website by July 10th, 2018. Please go to the website at www.galateafineart.com. No phone calls, please.
Artists should provide a paper artist’s statement and resume for the Exhibition Binder when dropping off the accepted work, maximum 4 pages total. Works must be hand delivered by the artists or a representative to the gallery on July 27th, 28th or 29th between 12 and 5pm. Accepted works may also be mailed to the gallery with a paid return shipping label. The gallery has limited storage space for boxes, so hand delivered works are encouraged, and artists must take their packing materials with them. Works not delivered in time will not be hung. The juror reserves the right to decline any work that differs markedly from its digital representation.
Pick up of Works:
Artists must pick up works on either Sunday, September 2nd or Monday, September 3rd, between 12 and 5pm. The gallery will not store works and will not be responsible for works not picked up from the gallery.
